Picasna 1.6
The major update is coming!
Thanks for all suggestions and bug reports. I’m happy to see how Picasna helps you show off your art-work and pictures.
I’m starting to work on a new version of Picasna. Feel free to ask for interesting or important features, and don’t forget to support the development!

Hi, there! I love your plugin and I intend to use it on my site. I have one suggestion, though: could you provide in your plugin also the swf files so we could store them locally?
I hate how every request for a gallery makes 3 requests to picasna.com. If picasna.com is down my site functionality would be broken too…
I also have a problem with the caching mechanism, which for some reason doesn’t seem to work. No files are cached in the cache folder(I checked for permissions).
Thanks,
Vlad.

As I said, I implemented your plugin on my site(kyospirit.ro). I also noticed that in full screen display the plugin behaves starngely: after a few viewd pictures it becomes very slow.
How about making a full-browser option?

Hi,
am using your plug-in since several months and yesterday i just check if there’s any better plug-in around. After testing several others, i am back with your plug-in. There’s simply nothing better.
one issue that i have with your currently released version is that the album thumbmail image displayed in the wordpress article gets a very wide white frame around the actual thumbnail image. meaning the frame isn’t tight around the image. there’s approx. 20 pixels space between the image and the frame.
will this be address in your new version 1.6? or is that related to the wordpress theme i use?
thanks,
flo

Thanks Igor, that’s great news!
Any indication on how close 1.6 is? Just around the corner? Or still a few blocks away?

Is there a way that I can link to an external website so that when someone clicks on the image they are taken to that external website?
I would need each picture to be able to have a different link.
Great plugin.

Hi!
Thanks for a great plugin – we use it in every single post we make – go check it out:
http://www.germinate.co.za
Just one question (or comment) – it seems that the Picasna plugin is making our page-loads very slow (much faster if plugin is disabled) – is there any way I can combat this?
Or should I wait for 1.6?

Hi,
Love the plugin, any chance of flickr support in the new 1.6 release? Also I second Vlad on the full browser option. Are you still developing the new version?

I am waiting on the 1.6, since 1.5 has bugs I reported to you
When are you expecting the release?

Hello there, glad that the Picasna plugin is not abandoned as I previously thought. I use it extensively on my site and can’t say a bad thing about it really: no fluff, just the basic options we need – except maybe one little thing: It would be nifty to have the option of setting the max width and height of the photo separately. I don’t want to limit myself to say 720px horizontally when I have a 1366*768 or similar widescreen resolution, but vertically, it would be nice to do it.
Best of luck man, even if you don’t add this functionality, I enjoy your work as is already, cheers.

One of your supporters here.
I have a feature request:
Once and image is open it would be nice if you could zoom in on it.
One option to do this would be set your image size to the recommended 800px, and have image zoom size that you could set to say 1024px. When looking at the image you could add a magnifying glass symbol that when clicked made the image the zoom size: 1024px.
I’ll gladly donate again if you can squeeze this feature in. Thank you!

Is this project dead?
If so, that’s a real shame as it has a lot of potential, just needs a few tweaks so people can better work picasna into their site, rather than have to work their site into picasna. lol.
If you’re still about, let us know! An ETA on the updated version would also be nice

I fell in love with Picasna at first sight. However after further testing I noticed that the thumb picture does not display in IE. I’ve checked other websites using this plug in and they work find with IE. I am using Firefox which works great, any chance you can advise what might be the issue with IE and Picasna?
My site is http://www.mindfulgod.com
Tks.

Are we allowed to remove the “Powered by Picasna” branding? If so how would I do it?

Found the reason why the thumb picture doesn’t appear in IE. Will have to set the Picasa album that you are sharing as PUBLIC. It will work fine on IE then.

I really love the functionality of Picasna and would like to use it as my primary gallery feature for my portfolio site (soon to be made/revamped).
Adding an option to change the count bar color (green doesn’t fit the scheme of my website), perhaps a few new Gallery icon style options would be nice!
Other than that, is there possibly a way to get the gallery to operate in a window instead of full screen and offering that as an option? Some people who aren’t very savy don’t know how to get back out of the gallery when they go into it without searching around.
Hope these are some additions that can be made!
Love it and am excited to look for the update!

Hello,
Is this version 1.6 will manage the unlisted album to picasa web album ?
In advance, thank you for your response and keep up the good work! Greetings.

I love this plug in, Thanks for sharing.
It would be nice if it has the autosize option in the width property. Putting it to 800px is ok, but for some monitors is looks small. If you put for example 1024 or higher, looks nice but for other small resolution devices the pictures shows out of the screen.
I will support the developement
Good job!

Greetings,
I love this plugin based on what I’ve experienced from the examples. But I am doing what the instructions say, but on my WP page, all I’m getting is a link and when I click it, I go to my Picasa album. Here is the link:
http://truefaithcogic.org/?page_id=1116
I am using WP 3.2.1. Again I say this is a great plugin!
Thanks in advance…

Is there a way to show some text of what the album title is before the viewer clicks on it? I have 16 albums on a page that are by year, I’d like to show the viewer the name of the album under the album cover perhaps?

Truefaithcogic,
I looked at your HTML source and can see that you do not have the link on its own line. There must be nothing at all on the same line.
At the moment you have tags either end like such:-
Click here for the photo album!
when it should be
Click here for the photo album!

Okay, I found out you gotta put your own data in “http://picasaweb.google.com/username/albumname” instead of default link Picasa generates… It doesn’t work otherwise.

Okey, I’ve got a question. I’d like to get rid of my name from the gallery view. Title is all I need there. How can I do that?
